WHEN: October, 2011 WHERE: Baler, Aurora, Philippines Posted: October 31, 2011 Giving this place another chance to win my heart (been there once circa 2009 and it was not really what I expected it to be), I travelled to Baler with some of my colleagues to see it all over again (this time as a venue for our Faculty Workshop/Meeting). We were given a chance to charter a trip to Baler aboard the Joy Bus, the executive coach of Genesis Bus Line. It was the most relaxing, albeit the road being the most rugged--an aftermath of recent storms and typhoons. With the current trend of bus “sushality”, this particular ride was bloggable, and definitely worth every money spent for it. The Joy ride had all the amenities needed when you travel (7 hours is way too long for my EQ). A stewardess was available to render your needs, sometimes acting as the tour guide; a blanket and a pillow were given for those who were agitated with the A/C and would rather sleep the seven hours away; WIFI was available for those who wanted to stay connected, updating all social networking sites; comfortable lazy boy seats; a CR on board (to lessen stopovers, subtracting a bulk from the travel time); snacks to keep your tummy busy; good morning kits to freshen up; and flatscreen “BUSTV” forentertainment. We were suppose to hear the anticipated mass at 6pm, but was told that there weren't any for that particular Saturday. We visited the Church Plaza complex instead. For post-dinner (we always had our meals at Bahia de Baler Bar and Grill), we deviated from the usual by trying out another restaurant at Bay-ler View Hotel, which surprisingly gave us a better view of the beach side. And yes, nice lighting and good food too. And have I bragged about having WIFI everywhere? This hotel restaurant also had WIFI. When: 10 December 2011 Where: Antipolo Posted: December 26, 2011 I have this thing with playing favorites with whatever restaurant/place I go to. For this time of the year, given a chance to go back to the land up there (upper Antipolo), I decided to make reservations for that swiss restaurant well known for its food and cozy interior. We visited the place before we attended a wedding because I had to do some random work while waiting for the wedding ceremonies and we were on a rush before traffic builds up at Marcos highway or Ortigas. We decided to go there earlier, do work and eat good food at Vieux Chalet. It was a great decision because the ambience made my day and brunch was just too good.
When: 2 September 2011 Where: Beijing Posted: December 21, 2011 Woke up to see such splendid views of the outdoors. Thank God we decided to stay here! Perhaps one of the few things I thank Him for is giving me opportunities to relax and have better accommodation when I am away from home. For this Beijing trip, Tsinghua Unis Center was our choice, and a good choice by the way. For this day, we toured Beijing to shop for electronics, eat great spicy food as recommended by our dear friend. Eating and walking was our day activities. I’ll let the photos do the talking since I barely remember everything from few month’s back. Being such a lazy blogger, late posts are usually just a bombardment of photos—less words. Another landscape feature while we were traversing the Beijing streets. |
