Aloha from the cold and windy city of Edinburgh!
After a month of adjusting with my decision to relocate to this very foreign city, I'm finally writing about my current life struggles in a blog post. How is life in the Philippines? Everyone says it went too cold not to notice, while I am eagerly sharing my news that it is warmer here at 9 degrees C. I guess adapting to the cold would have been good if we fly in the Filipinos here in Edinburgh for a few days (and that is as if we can do that). Life in the Philippines is definitely different than my life here in Edinburgh, and that goes beyond work capacity and daily routine. The warmer weather is the primary thing I will forever yearn for, but cold is good. I think this relocation in the colder part of the world made me less intimidated with the "burrrrrr" weather as I usually am. It also made me sleep earlier at night and enjoy long walks despite the sunny, rainy and cloudy day. I have nothing really special to write about, aside from the fact that I finally found several good shops to buy my needs, good location to work at, and a friend who most certainly helped me realize that there are people in this town who struggle in the adaptation "thing". Nothing as essential than a good location to also stay most of the day (and this is where I am currently writing at --my own Ph.D. study space/workstation). I will be posting more photos soon, but do savor a few images of the city in my header photo and in my home page slide show. I have loads of photos stored on my phone and computer that I haven't had time post-editing. I'll be back hopefully soon to write about it. |
