So there I was marvelling the foreign land and the tourists were just all over the place. Art shops were everywhere, museum was the mall counterpart, retail was a big market, and the food from Ba Le Well was gastronomic madness (you have to try it!!! Ba Le Well Restaurant is located at 45/51 Ba Le Well Lane (Phan Chau Trinh St end). We weren't able to try the Central Market food hall but was almost tempted to try it if I wasn't full yet from Bale Well (which was impossible with the foodfest they offered us in that restaurant). Ofcourse, Miss Ly Cafeteria is also a must try, but that was all we can muster during our short stay in Hoi An.
The trip ended with the experience of the river cruise and the lantern festival. I can go back to that old town, but this first visit was a treasured memory of Hoi An and its magical old town.
This stream of photos in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam was taken last May 2014. Early that month, I visited a friend and experienced the urban open spaces of the city. Googled some fast facts and realized that Saigon, it's old name, is synonymous to the Kapok tree, that was supposedly seen throughout the city. Didn't exactly capture that fact because I was too giddy experiencing its walkable zones, cathedral angles, unique architectural facades, and long talks with the friend I haven't seen for a year.:)
That afternoon trip to view the city ended with a downpour, good pho and spring rolls from Pho 2000. Happy tummy to end the quick city tour on foot. PS. They said it wasn't exactly the safest city to traverse (pick pockets/stealing being common at some areas), so be extra cautious when you bring out your phones and cameras especially when you are near the road. Otherwise, HAVE FUN!:) Vietnam is robust and full of cultural hearths to love. |
