Such is the case when the UK went on a heatwave last week. Who is surviving this sweltering summer? But thundery showers, widespread rains and those gusty winds are back. Not sure if we are lucky or not, but the adventure continues as we enjoy the experience in a “cold again!” learning format. To us here in the north, we call this the NORTHERN LIFE and WHAT-HAVE-YOU or WINTER-NEVER-LEFT. That’s me and my random thoughts permeating this 75th narrative. On a rather adventurous discourse, I also reckon a good trip (while writing, reading and EATING) to see friends last month. It was a nice stroll to see places and meet people; back in London which is also a refuge when things are getting quite crazy in EDINBURGH. Also, the adventure isn’t ending just yet. This month, we’ve explored more of Edinburgh and I cannot imagine how much of this town I deprived myself with for almost three years now. To those whose hearts were captured by this city, do you agree with me that it is indeed glowing in its own Scottish ways, isn’t it? How every crazy turn is actually a new site unfolding... capturing our attention with landscapes, music, whiskies, and stories? Mesmerising us and then breaking our hearts as we leave it? And that every mishap experienced in every step taken in this corrugated pavement is a blessing? This city is beyond amazing.
Ok I’m back to writing. "... drifting across the city through layers of humid air; sounds of life and movement, people getting ready and people giving up, the sound of hope and the sound of hanging on, and behind them all, the quiet, deadly ticking of a thousand hungry clocks, the lonely sound of time passing in the long Carribean night." - The Rum Diary, Hunter S. Thompson [And the hiatus was the calmest months for the last few years.] Hi to all! I've gone through what is probably a long list of books to reflect and read-- from The Rum Diary [which was a hilarious book really], The Tattooist of Auschwitz [heartbreaking] to the Human Zoo [incredibly spot-on] and presently browsing on (and reading) 5 books that I need to finish the soonest. The previous months were spectacular. Also alongside the calm, I felt rather peculiar with how things are moving forward. What is probably a bloggable peculiarity is the fact that I was able to reach my 7-8 hour sleep as of late [definitely not common]. Also, that I've been enjoying the company of those who would take care of me as I take care of those dear to me with no negativity embedded in the discourse. That the universe conspires for this to exist. That life is ok. And that the wait is not as tedious as it sounds. And that, in the long struggle to live my life to the fullest, I stopped and met you. [My Ph.D. is still moving forward and continues to be the highlight of my everyday. And that makes my life okay.] [Also: Thank you to that person who suggested the book where the excerpt was taken. It was a good book to read while stuck in a 9-hour train delay.]
